About the Artist
Mahnoor Hussain is a contemporary artist known for her intricate and vibrant paintings. She earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA) with first class honors from the esteemed National College of Arts Lahore in 2009, specializing in Indo-Persian Miniature Painting, and was recognized with the Renard and Ibrahim Excellence Award for her outstanding work.
Her artistic endeavors have garnered both national and international attention, with her participation in numerous art shows. Notably, her work has been featured in Milan at an art exhibition held by Moulin de l'Est, an esteemed Parisian cultural society dedicated to showcasing South Asian contemporary art. Further adding to her international recognition, Hussain's work was also displayed at the Art Rooms London 2018 and currently has a solo show: “digitizing the miniature: Mahnoor Hussain and the Spirit of feminism” on view at the Watson Institute of Brown University in Providence, USA, marking her global impact as an emerging artistic force.
Hussain's work in Indo-Persian Miniature Painting is characterized by a modern authenticity melded with traditional elements. Her realistic yet ironic approach delves into emotional themes, portraying the contemporary human psyche amidst a world of novelties.
Hussain's art seamlessly blends traditional techniques with contemporary narratives, especially with her venture into the digital realm. Influenced by her multicultural journey, she fearlessly explores themes of identity, femininity, the complexities of the human experience and cultural assimilation, inviting viewers to embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery through her evocative artwork and sparking societal dialogue regarding essential topics.
Currently the Artist is residing in Rhode Island, and continues to pursue her painting career.
